Water Quality and Treatment

RPID Well

The water quality of our well is checked monthly and the results are sent to the Vancouver Island Health Authority’s Environmental Health Officer. The results for the monthly samples are listed on the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) website.  VIHA will notify us if there are water quality issues.

Historically the results indicate that the readings for E. Coli and Fecal Coliform levels are excellent.  The water is treated regularly with chlorine.

VIHA has advised that they are behind in posting the 2022 results for the RPID, however, 2021 results are available.

A copy of the results are provided below:

RPID Monthly Water Test for VIHA

There is some sediment (manganese) in our water and it is most noticeable when the lines are flushed in the Fall, Winter and Spring – generally Oct, January and the April/May time frame.

Although medium levels of sediment are not harmful to your health, it can collect in plumbing fixtures and appliances. Water filters in homes are highly recommended to reduce sediment in household pipes.

In March 2022, a  Water Filtration System was installed at the RPID well site to reduce levels of sediment in the RPID main line.
